Maple Nut and Seed Bars

March is the start of maple syrup season here in Ontario. With the nights still below freezing but the days just above, it is the perfect time for the sap to flow. You can go to visit maple syrup bushes all over and sample their sweet maple treats. One sweet treat you can make with delicious maple syrup is Maple Nut and Seed Bars. Add sea salt to make this a salty sweet treat or just have your sweet treat on its own. Mix and match your nuts and seed to your own liking.

Did you know that maple syrup is a healthier alternative having a lower glycemic index than sugar, as well as being high in antioxidants. You can find riboflavin, magnesium, zinc, potassium, and calcium in maple syrup, as well.

Maple Nut and Seed Bars

  • 1 c. raw almonds
  • 1 c. raw walnuts
  • 2 Tbsp. raw cashews
  • 2 Tbsp. raw pumpkin seeds
  • 2 Tbsp. raw sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 c. maple syrup (sugar free for keto)
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Roughly chop nuts and add all ingredients to a medium size bowl. Mix thoroughly. Press into parchment paper lined 7 inch by 7 inch baking pan.

Maple Nut and Seed Bars

Bake for 25 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes, then cut into 16 pieces. After completely cooled store in covered container on the counter for up to 3 days.
