Don’t Feel Left Out!

The holiday season is in full swing, although it may look a little different this year. We still need to celebrate, especially this year! Remember that even if you have food allergies, you can still enjoy wonderful treats this holiday season and always! Having food allergies, whether they be one allergy or several doesn’t mean you have to go without.

As many of you know, I have multiple food allergies. I used to feel very left out and lonely. Yes, having food allergies can make you feel isolated. Most gathering are based around food, but you can’t expect your host to cater to all of your dietary needs. You need to take the initiative to make sure you have food to eat. By the way, bringing some nuts in a bag in your purse doesn’t help.

You can bring allergy free delights, so as a result you can feel included in every gathering. Usually I will get in contact with the host and find out what is on the menu so I can bring something that will compliment their meal. I always make sure I bring my own allergy free treats to share with everyone, not just one serving for myself. If someone is having a dinner, I make sure to bring an entrée and a dessert of some kind. Bringing my allergy free foods lets me feel included in the festivities. Above all, it also gives me the opportunity to share my allergy free goodies with others. Some people think that allergy free foods are tasteless and bland, but sharing mine lets me show people that allergy free can be delicious!

Even better, I never feel left out of the festivities!

Some of the entrées I have shared with my friends are:

Ginger Sesame Stir Fry

Veggie Filled Meatloaf

Zucchini Pesto Lasagna with Cashew Cream
